EPFL Rocket Team
Sky is not the limit
With over 200 students passionate about space and aerospace innovation, the EPFL Rocket Team brings together talent primarily from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. Since 2016, it has provided a unique platform to transform academic knowledge into tangible and ambitious projects in the field of space technology.
Its ultimate goal: to become the first student team in the world to develop and launch a bi-liquid propulsion rocket reaching outer space.
Key initiatives include:
◦ Competitions: designing and launching rockets capable of reaching altitudes of 3 km and 9 km as part of international competitions, with the ambition to launch to 30 km and 100 km by the end of the decade.
◦ Hyperion: developing bi-liquid engines to support the team’s various projects.
◦ Icarus: creating active control systems for vertical landings, inspired by SpaceX’s reusable technologies.
◦ SpaceRace: an educational program dedicated to training new recruits, ensuring the sustainability and success of future projects.
“Engaging students in space technology projects in collaboration with academic and industrial partners” is the motto and core mission of the EPFL Rocket Team. This unique platform offers exceptional opportunities for personal and professional development while contributing to shaping the engineers of tomorrow.
